Histdrop is a daily history game. Every day it drops you into one real moment from the past and asks five questions about the life you would have lived there. It is a simple static website: there are no accounts, no sign-up, and nothing to log into. You never give us a name, a password, or a profile — and this policy explains the small amount of information that is involved when you visit.
Your game progress — today's result, your answers, and your day streak — is stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device. It never leaves your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see your result, your streak, or how you answered.
Because the record lives only in your browser, clearing your browser's site data or history erases it permanently, and it does not follow you to a different browser or device. That is the trade-off of having no accounts: your history belongs to you alone, and so does keeping it.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit and which pages they read. It is a privacy-first service: it uses no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not build a profile of you. We see only anonymous totals — visit counts, popular pages, and broad patterns — never anything tied to an individual visitor. Histdrop is hosted by Cloudflare, which also delivers the site's pages to your browser.
The "Remind me tomorrow" form is currently a placeholder. If you type an email address and submit it today, nothing happens with it: the address is not sent anywhere, is not stored by us, and no email will be sent to you. The form exists because reminders are planned for the future. If real reminders ever launch, this policy will be updated first to explain exactly what is collected and how it is used, before any address is collected.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — there is almost none to sell. Histdrop currently shows no advertising and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If advertising is added in the future, this policy will be updated before it appears, describing what any advertising partner would and would not receive.
Histdrop is a general-audience game about history and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes — such as collecting email addresses or adding advertising — will be reflected here before they take effect.
Questions about this policy or about Histdrop can be sent to the site's operator at [email protected].
